Christina Kelly Spring 2024

Dear friends,

It’s officially spring migration season and the Piping Plovers are back to nest on the sandy beaches of Rockaway. These tiny shorebirds have a sweet flute-like song and are usually expertly camouflaged in the sand, but we saw three of them last week at Fort Tilden while recording extra material for an upcoming video about the work and process of the artist Beth Duerr, whose graphite drawings are inspired by the coastal environment.

Here is more of what I’ve been up to.

Videos about Food & Sustainability

I’ve been working on a series of videos showcasing innovators in sustainable agriculture, addressing the challenges posed by climate change. From Regenerative farming in Rhode Island to kelp farming in Maine and seed-saving initiatives in Guatemala, these stories highlight impactful solutions to reduce our carbon footprint in food production.

As Great Salt Lake Dries, Dust Is a New Danger

I continue to edit videos for the award-winning media site The Story Exchange and our video about the innovative work of scientist Kerry Kelly recently won a SABEW Best in Business Award for a Video from a medium or small news division.  As the Great Salt Lake dries up, a new danger has emerged in the form of airborne dust, making it tougher for people to breathe, especially those with asthma or other respiratory conditions. In this video, Dr. Kelly talks about her efforts to address the lake’s drying effects and the low-cost air quality sensor she’s developed to measure air pollution from the drying lake.

Looking Glass Arts

Looking Glass Arts in West Fulton, NY, is gearing up for its fourth season, offering a vibrant space for musicians and writers to create and collaborate. I edited the video for their website that captures the artistic energy and joy at this former dairy farm. There’s still time to apply for their residency programs or support this wonderful initiative through donations.

If you’d like to hear more about these projects or are open to collaboration, please reach out. I’d love to connect.

Happy Spring/Summer
